II. Function explanation and instructions for use

Better exposure latitude and resolution delivers sharper, fewer noise specks and offers more accurate white-balance and color restoration with our newly optimized firmware.

(1) Optimization of Exposure Latitude:

As shown in the figure, the fence panels are dim in the left photo while that legible on the right photo was taken by the newly optimized firmware.

The figure shows an example of a backlighting overexposure. The left shoot with the old camera has excessive white over the sky, while the right has visible clouds.

(2) Optimization of Resolution:

Bushes gloomy on the left photo were taken with the old firmware, while highly visible and appealing on the right photo with resolution optimization

(3) Optimization of Noise Specks

Wood door, columns and ceiling grids with noise specks in the left photo are reduced in the right photo

Indoor shootings with the old firmware had flickering noise dots in the dim background, while the new firmware reduces the discrepancy significantly. See the comparison video.

(4). Optimization of White Balance for Color Fidelity:

See Figure 1 panoramic photo taken with the old firmware. The sky appears gray-green, the ground and foliage with excessive yellowishness, so is the white balance. In Figure 2, the panoramic shot with the new firmware, the colors of the sky, ground and foliage are more accurate, including the white balance

2. When taking photos, you can choose the shutter priority or ISO priority exposure mode on client end.

3. Support adjusting the curve during preview and shooting process (except for when shooting Raw photos or Flat Color videos).

4. Add 8k@5fps video resolution.

5. Add the in-depth storage devices formatting function. Please go to the Storage menu, select the storage device you want to format, and format it with exFat.

6. Optimized the gyro function, please remember to recalibrate the gyroscope before use after completing the firmware upgrade.

7. The camera AP hotspot supports the OSC standard.".OSC" is added after the original hotspot name.

8. Solved the problem that the USB device could not be recognized. Please plug in the USB device after the camera is turned on.

9. Add brand new Stitching Box function! Users can connect their camera and use the camera hardware to assemble the contents of the storage device.

10. Fix bugs and improve system stability.

III. How to upgrade firmware or downgrade firmware?

If you want to degrade from Beta firmware to the lower version firmware, follow the steps as below:

Firstly, please unlock the camera's firmware degrade limit.

Use the Pro PC of 1.3.0 version or above to connect to the current camera.

When the camera is connected, open the "Camera settings" and click the "Unlock firmware degrade" under the camera icon. Once unlocked, the camera can be updated to any version of the firmware in normal updating way.

Firmware upgrade with booting:

(1) Please make sure that the battery is not lower than 30% and is connected to power adapter. The camera may be booted by pressing "POWER" key in the power-off state.

(2) Insert the SD card or mobile HD with the latest firmware into the camera.

Notice: please make sure you have deleted the old firmware bin file, and keep the file name (Insta360_Pro_Update.bin) of the newly downloaded firmware unchanged, or the system might not be able to identify the latest firmware automatically, thus cannot upgrade normally.

(3) Restart the camera after getting above preparation done, the camera will enter upgrading stage, during which it is upgrading the firmware. Once it has completed, it will restart again.

(4) You can click "Info" in the setting to check out the camera version and Pro Serial Number.

As the Beta firmware is still under test, we hope that you can understand there might exist some bugs or problems. Please use them with caution, and not for important purposes.

If you have any questions or encounter any problems during usage, feel free to contact us via service@insta360.com.

@danielh_94028

Hi, right now it's not possible to control pro for shooting with the google street view app.

Please use the pro for shooting, and then use stitcher to stitch files and upload to google street view.

I have upgraded firmware to v206 and attempted to use google's StreetView app to connect via the Open Spherical Camera API.

I get an error "Camera not responding" followed by "360 camera not found".

I can connect to the camera via the Insta360 pro app from the same device.  I'm using the camera in WiFi AP mode.

Could you please provide any more details on how to use this functionality?

Thanks,

Daniel

@iris-chan -- this appears to be for WiFi use.  Does the API work for ethernet?  I have been unable to get it to respond.

@manuel_91502 Our cameras abides by the Google official standards, you can refer to the Google standards in the link below:
https://developers.google.com/streetview/open-spherical-camera/

Is there any documentation concerning how to connect to the OSC standard? And what version of OSC it supports, which API calls, etc.
